Abstract

The ruminant livestock business cattle in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan is developing very well, judging from the production and productivity of cattle livestock every year the population always increases. The potential area of ​​Kutai Kartanegara Regency is dominated by large dry land for food crops and oil palm, rubber and coconut plantations as well as a small portion of swampland for the development of buffalo livestock. The wet climate in Kutai Kartanegara Regency is very supportive for the life of cattle. This study was carried out in Kutai Kartanegara Regency in December 2022. The primary data was obtained from interviews with cattle livestock farmers. Secondary data was obtained from data from the Department of Agriculture, the Central Bureau of Statistics from districts and provinces. The survey method was used in this study by analyzing the carrying capacity of agricultural waste, such as the carrying capacity of livestock and the carrying capacity of cattle in an area. The results of this study obtained a total feed supply of 677,334.66 (BKC tons/ha), a total feed requirement of 27,156.97 (BKC tons/ha), area capability of 374,496.12 (ST), cattle livestock population of 30,030 (ST), capacity of additional livestock cattle 344,486.12 (ST) and carrying capacity index (IDD) 24.94 (IDD> 2 with safe status), which means that the availability of feed resources from agricultural and plantation wastes is functionally sufficient to meet the needs of cattle.
