BUFFALO LIVESTOCK BUSINESS DECISIONS IN DEMAK DISTRICT

Abstract

Buffalo livestock is one of the livestock that has the potential to be developed in Demak Regency because it is easy to maintain. Buffalo is one of the livestock that contributes animal protein in Indonesia. In addition, buffalo are also used as working livestock, helping farmers in processing rice fields. This research aims to analyze the internal factors of farmers (age, number of families, education and length of breeding) and to analyze their relationship to the business decisions of buffalo livestock in Demak Regency. The research was conducted in the Districts of Gajah, Karanganyar and Dempet. The selection of the sub-district was carried out deliberately based on the sub-district being the center of the buffalo livestock business in Demak Regency. The research was carried out using a survey method with direct observation of buffalo breeders in Demak Regency. Determining the number of respondents using the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%, so that the number of respondents taken was 168 people. The analysis used is descriptive analysis and logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the older the farmer and the larger the number of families, the higher the decision to continue the buffalo livestock business. Meanwhile, the higher the farmer's education and the longer he has been raising livestock, the lower the decision to continue the buffalo livestock business.
