Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive model for empowering local communities through sustainable agricultural practices led by SEAMEO BIOTROP. The Agro-Eco-Edu-Tourism (AEET) framework, which evolved from the earlier SMARTS-BE initiative, integrates ecological agriculture, education, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Supported by the national agenda and rooted in educational ecosystems. This study employs a qualitative approach, using a literature review, focus group discussions (FGDs), participatory workshops, and site analysis to examine the development and implementation of AEET. The study highlights a research gap in integrated education-driven agricultural empowerment models that simultaneously link biodiversity conservation, community learning, and local economic development within a scalable framework in Southeast Asia.
